I. Introduction to UC098 Rubidium-Cesium Extractant

In nature, rubidium and cesium often coexist with potassium, sodium, and lithium, requiring the use of special reagents and processes to separate them.

4-tert-butyl-2-(alpha-methylbenzyl)phenol (t-BAMBP) is currently the best-performing extractant for the separation of Cs/Rb, Rb/K, Na, Li. Its binding ability with alkali metal ions is in the order of Cs > Rb > K > Na > Li. Based on this principle, t-BAMBP has been widely used in the extraction, separation, and purification of rubidium, cesium, and others.
